Bishop Gorman scored three runs in the top half of the first inning on three hits and a Douglas error for the 3-0 lead in the second round of the NIAA State 4A Championship at the College of Southern Nevada.
Gorman righty Stephen Manthei (9-1 on the year with a 1.73 ERA and 76 strikeouts) sat the Tigers down in order in the bottom half.
