Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department offers classes for children to seniors. Information and registration at the recreation office, 1327 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville, or at 782-9828.

Introduction to horses.

Students age 5 to 15 learn about horses, grooming, equipment and hands-on horsemanship. Class is 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, May 12 through June 2, at Mountain View Equestrian Center in Minden. Cost is $80.

Ballet. Students age 3 and older learn ballet and develop concentration, imagination, coordination, self-discipline and confidence. Classes held at World Gym.

Call the recreation department for schedule and cost.

Dog obedience. Establishes good conduct and curbs bad habits. Class is 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays, May 27 to June 15, in the Carson Valley Middle School parking lot. Cost is $80.

Concealed weapon certification. Course meets and exceeds Nevada State concealed weapon certification requirements. Class is 6-9:30 p.m. May 13 and May 15 at the Recreation Annex Building and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 16 at the Douglas County Shooting Range. Cost is $90 plus an additional $10 insurance fee.

Scrapbooking. Bring plenty of photos for a day of scrapbooking. Class is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 17 at Gardnerville Elementary School. Cost is $10.

Declutter and organize your closet. Learn to prioritize and declutter to create a functional, well-ordered closet and to develop an organizing system to apply to every room. Class is 10-11 a.m. May 16 at the recreation annex building. Cost is $45.

Home decorating. Learn the basics of home decoration and how to make informed color choices, proper lighting and furniture placement. Class is 9-11 a.m. May 23 at the recreation annex building. Cost is $75.
