Probation revoked for man who tested positive for meth

District Judge Michael Gibbons revoked probation Monday for John Christy, a 40-year-old Bodie Flats resident with a long criminal history after he allegedly tested positive for methamphetamine.

Gibbons ordered Christy held without bail pending appearances Wednesday in East Fork Justice Court and May 18 in District Court on new charges of felony use of a controlled substance.

Christy tested positive for methamphetamine March 23 and reportedly told officers he used at a cousin's birthday party.

In February, Gibbons sentenced Christy to three years in Nevada State Prison, suspended, and placed him on five years probation for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

At the time, Christy claimed he had been clean for 700 days and had turned his life around.

He was arrested on the new charge less than three weeks after he completed a 30-day sentence as part of his probation.
