Motocross track important to economy

EDITOR:

After reading the article in the paper about the concern for the animals at the shelter I understand how some may feel.

Yet I do feel that the health of the county and local business out weigh the disturbance that might be caused by any events at the motocourse. With gaming revenues declining our county and businesses need any event that could help generate money and outside exposure for us. The county has tried other events around the area and have come up short in some, this is a sport that brings a family style event as well as exposure to all regions of the West.

There are businesses in Carson that are planning outdoor events and we need to stay competitive to draw interest to our community.

There are few other areas that would be able to hold an event of this nature without having a difficult logistical impact on residents. This area is remote enough to have minimal impact on residents and still have easy access to the event and still within close access of local businesses. The fact that this is a county owned property, I would believe most of the fees collected would go to the county and the little inconvenience, if any, would be of no comparison to other major events that only profit a single community of the Valley and have a lager impact on traffic.

I would hope that all residents would support all events that project a clean and positive image for Carson Valley and be open to all ideas that we might all benefit from.
