Track & Field: Waggoner breaks school discus record, again

For the fourth time in the last calendar year, Douglas High senior Jessica Waggoner broke the school discus record.


Waggoner, competing at the prestigious Meet of Champions in Sacramento on Saturday, threw a 145-04 to win the discus event by a full 12 feet over her closest competition.


She has now broken the school discus and shot put records a combined eight times in her two-year varsity career.


She took ninth in the shot put on Saturday with a throw of 34-02.


Sierra Lutheran's Wade Meddles also had a strong week, taking second in the 3,200 with a personal-best time of 9:16.07.


The top finisher, Erik Olson of Novato, poster a time of 8:55.19, which according to Carsonsports.com, is the top time in the country so far this season.


Douglas will compete in the Northern 4A Regional Trials this weekend at the Big George Sports Complex in Minden.
