It may be a wet commute tonight as a storm rolls over the Sierra today bringing up to an inch of moisture to the Sierra. Snow levels will remain above 8,500 feet this afternoon and evening, lowering to between 6,000 feet and 7,000 feet late tonight north of Highway 50, according to the National Weather Service. South of Highway 50, the snow'll stay near 7,500 feet. Weekend travelers should expect slick conditions over Carson and Monitor passes.

The weather service is anticipating steady rainfall in Carson Valley of up to a quarter inch. Is it me, or has this been kind of a damp drought year? The storm will pass by late Saturday morning. But there's another one behind it, according to forecasters, that could bring more rain on Monday.

The number of swine flu cases is holding steady at 109 nationally, and one in Nevada. As of Thursday, 10 people had been tested by Carson Valley Medical Center and none of those have returned positive.
