Cattlewomen host scholarship dance

The Western Nevada Cattlewomen's 2009 scholarship dinner and dance is March 28 at the Smith Valley Community Hall in Wellington. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the dance should be under way around 8 p.m.

The dance is open to everyone and is Western Nevada Cattlewomen's largest scholarship fundraiser of the year. Those in attendance can expect a beef dinner with all the fixings, no-host bar, a silent and live auction and raffle prizes.

Some of this year's auction items include a private barbecue in Hope Valley hosted by the Cattlewomen, and a VIP table for 2009 including eight tickets, private table in front, and tableside dinner and drink service.

Tickets are $17 for adults, $7 for kids age 4-12, and kids 3 and under are free. For tickets contact Treasurer Vicki Hone at 782-4571.

Western Nevada Cattle Women membership is open to anyone interested in promoting the cattle industry through educational and promotional activities.

The Western Nevada Cattlewomen activities include Farm City Days in Reno and Carson City, Costco demonstrations and hosting an annual dinner, dance and auction to raise funds for our annual scholarships.

Scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors from Alpine and Mono counties of California, Carson City, Washoe, Storey, Lyon, and Douglas counties of Northern Nevada who are interested in pursuing a career in agriculture.
