Tot egg hunt

Douglas County Parks & Recreation annual tot egg hunt for children 5 and younger is 11 a.m. April 9 at Lampe Park in Gardnerville The Easter Bunny will pose for photos.

Parks & Rec seeks community sponsors to ensure this event remains free to the public. Sponsors have their organization or business name on flyers distributed to Valley elementary schools and may include an informational table the day of the event.

Wine making class

Gardnerville wine maker Archie Reed teaches how to make wine beginning 7 p.m. May 12 at the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension office, 1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville. At least 6 participants are needed to sign up by April 29. The five-week long course costs $275 and includes everything needed to make wine except the bottles.

Expect to make 30 bottles of the wine of your choice and have the equipment and knowledge to make wine at home for $2 per bottle.

Farmers market coming in June

Vendors of local area products and services are needed for the 12th annual Gardnerville farmers market in Lampe Park. The farmers market begins June 3 and runs Wednesdays through Sept. 16 at 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The food, farm and dirt policy expands to food-related items, outdoor art, "green" and health products. Home-based business owners are encouraged to call the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department at 782-9828.
