A50-year-old Gardnerville man whose felony drunken driving conviction was deferred a year ago is scheduled to appear in Douglas County District Court for sentencing this morning. Patrick Farrell entered into a 3-5 year diversion program designed to keep him from drinking in exchange for avoiding a prison sentence. Farrell was arrested Dec. 15, 2007 after his vehicle went off Mottsville Lane and hit a fence. His diversion was ordered June 18, 2008.

Northern Nevada health care professionals will be gathering at Genoa Lakes tonight to hear a presentation on TeenScreen, a means to detect suicidal tendencies in teenagers. The session is 6-9 p.m.

It might not be quite so hot today as it was on Monday. The National Weather Service is calling for a high of 89 with afternoon winds 5-10 mph. The chance of thunderstorms continue to loom on Wednesday and Thursday.
