Barn tour a hoot

EDITOR:

On behalf of the Douglas County Historical Society I would like to thank all those who attended the "Great Barns of Carson Valley Barn Tour." We hope you enjoyed the tour and ice cream social that followed. Most of all I would like to thank the wonderful barn owners. Without their historic barns their would be no barn tour. The great volunteers that work behind the scenes and those that help out on the day of the tour. Tahoe Creamery for the delicious ice cream that is as good as homemade. You all made my job easy.

I would especially like to thank the Park Cattle Co. for allowing us to visit the Dangberg Barn. I believe this was the first time the public had an opportunity to visit the barn. Mike Fischer, Nevada State Director of Cultural Affairs, for telling the story of the barn. Danny Nalder and Dennis Jensen for their assistance on the day of the tour.

We also want to thank state parks and Mark Jensen of the Dangberg Home Ranch for the co-operative effort so that we could offer a joint tour ticket that included the Dangberg Home Ranch.

Last but not least, The Record-Courier for the great publicity. Without your assistance, these events would not be possible.

We hope all of you learned a little about the history of the area, agriculture and the pioneers who built this wonderful place we call home.
