Baseball: Renegades eliminated from tournament

A pair of heartbreaking losses spelled the end for the Carson Valley Little League Renegades at the district tournament over the weekend.

The highlight of the tournament came on Friday when Carson Valley topped Reno American 13-8.

Four pitchers - Wyatt Rooker, Jace Hart, Levi Bell and Haden Keller - combined to keep Reno's bats at bay, striking out six in the game.

Hart doubled and drove in a pair of runs, Rooker triples and drove in three runs, Nathaniel Hughes doubled and drove in a pair of runs and Riley Wilkinson had an RBI.

Samuel Watts had a sacrifice bunt for an RBI.

Rooker stole home in the third to help shift the momentum Carson Valley's way and Hayden Keller came in to close.

Carson Valley fell to South Tahoe 11-10 on Saturday, despite leading for the majority. South Tahoe had an inside-the-park grand slam home run to put the game away in the sixth.

Washoe eliminated Carson Valley with a 14-10 win on Sunday. Carson Valley out-hit Washoe for the game as Trevor Edis had three RBIs and Rooker, Keller and Weston Rauber each had one RBI.

Washoe, which had beaten every other team in the tournament by 10 runs, used up six pitchers in the game.
