The R-C Morning Report

The Record-Courier has received its third consecutive newsroom excellence award from Swift Communications, parent company to Sierra Nevada Media Group, and the owners of the Gardnerville newspaper since 1988. We compete in the weekly category of the awards. The awards were announced Tuesday night.

We need to find a home for the DMV kiosk. I've used the one that was in the Gardnerville office and it was a good machine. It doesn't complain much and just sits in the corner waiting for people to scan their information. Go to www.dmvnv.com if you've got any ideas.

They found two abandoned camp fires in a row in Alpine County on Monday and Tuesday. The first one was apparently in the parking area of the Alpine County Airport and another was found in Woodfords Canyon. Once the heat sets in, it will only be a matter of time before these can start a real fire.

There's a slight chance of thunderstorms tonight and a really nice chance after 11 a.m. on Thursday. There is a little moisture associated with these storms. The high temperature today should crack 90 for the first time in a long time.
