Remembering dad

EDITOR:

Twenty-five years ago The Record-Courier published pictures of three windows located somewhere in the Valley. The prize for finding them was $50. My sister Kim and I worked at our father's title company, and at 9 a.m. we would leave the office to run errands. When we finished, we decided to go look for the windows.

We found two of them, one in Genoa and one in town. When we returned to the office, Dad asked where we had been. We showed him pictures and told him about the contest.

"I'm not paying you girls to run around looking for windows," he said.

We said "OK, Dad," and as soon as he left the office, we went back out to look for the last window.

As we were driving through town, my sister said, "Oh no! There's dad. He sees us and is waving us over. We are in trouble now!"

He says "follow me" and takes to the French Hotel and points up. He found the last window.

The three of us went to The Record-Courier to claim our prize. Dad let us keep the $50 and then told us to get back work.

Our dad, Jim Owen was a wonderful man. We lost him in 2004 and all of us miss him every day.
