The Pony Express re-ride left Dayton at 7:08 a.m., according to the SIERA radio folks manning the hotline. According to a GPS tracker on the horse, the rider is approaching Mound House near the Virginia City turnoff.
The last report from the Web site is that the rider is four hours late. That means hitting the center of Carson City at about 10 a.m. and Genoa at noon.
There are no guarantees, though. The rider could pick up as much as an hour over the last stretch before reaching Douglas County.
