Ranchos man arrested in Los Angeles murder

A 22-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a 2007 gang-related murder in Los Angeles.

Investigators from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Street Enforcement Team and the patrol division arrested Jesus Manuel Salgado shortly before noon without incident at his home in the 1200 block of Dora Court in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

Salgado, who listed his occupation as fork lift operator at Starbucks roasting plant, appeared before East Fork Justice Jim EnEarl to waive extradition to Los Angeles County.

EnEarl set an 8:30 a.m. June 26 deadline for Los Angeles officials to pick him up.

He is being held in Douglas County Jail without bail on a fugitive warrant.

According to Douglas County Investigations Supervisor Sgt. Dan Britton, Salgado was wanted in connection with the Sept. 27, 2007, gang-related murder in Lancaster, Calif.

Salgado, a member of the Lancas Street Gang, was originally arrested for murder in September 2007. He was released for insufficient evidence.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Howard Cooper said new evidence was developed which led to a new arrest warrant for Salgado.
