Another successful Carson Valley Days Parade

Almost 80 entries participated in the annual Carson Valley Day Parade today.

No major incidents were reported during the parade, or on Friday night during the celebration in Gardnerville.

Douglas County Sgt. Jim Halsey said the crowd on Friday was about the same size as last year, and was well behaved.

"Highway 395 did not have to be closed this year due to the policing of deputies and the cooperation of celebrants in remaining out of the roadway during the evening's festivities," Halsey said. "eputies and jail staff provided numerous rides home for celebrants who were too intoxicated to drive."

In all, nine people were arrested in the Valley during the evening, and three persons were arrested at Lake Tahoe. Charges ranged from possession of cocaine, to DUI, to minor consuming alcohol, and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

"The various law enforcement and support agencies involved in this event worked extremely well together," Halsey said.

Sheriff Ron Pierini thanked all those who participated including Douglas County Communications Center, Nevada Highway Patrol, Douglas County Road Department and Nevada Department of Transportation.
