Grateful for the help

EDITOR:

I want to express my gratitude to the Douglas County School District. My son will be graduating from Douglas High tonight. He would not be where he is today without all the help and guidance he received from the Douglas schools. We moved here when my son, James, was in first grade and he attended Scarselli Elementary. He moved up to Pau-Wa-Lu and then on to Douglas High. I have been a single mom during his developing years and I could not have done it alone. It is not only the teachers who played an important role in my son's life but all the support staff as well, including the yard duty personnel. It has been said that it takes a village to raise a child and in my case it was the Douglas community. My thanks is not limited to the schools but the community at large to include the recreation department, other parents, neighbors, family, friends, and church family.

I especially want to thank The Record-Courier for their involvement as well. They have covered many of the sports events that my son has been involved in. They have chronicled my son's growth from little boy to a fine young man. Their coverage of sports events and other activities at the Douglas schools has had a positive impact.

My son has been accepted to attend UNR in the fall. He is venturing on to the next stage in his life and I am so very proud of him. I ask for your continued prayers.
