The R-C Morning Report

The foreclosure auction of the Minden Gateway Center was delayed 90 days, according to my sources. Reportedly scheduled for Tuesday in Minden, the sale was set for Oct. 28, assuming the bankruptcy court permits it to occur then.

Firefighters responded to a report of smoke west of China Spring on Wednesday afternoon. As near as I can tell, they didn't spot anything. The chance of ignition has dropped to 63 percent or so with the increased humidity, but that doesn't mean there isn't a wildfire out there smoldering, waiting for the wind.

It looked like we might have excitement on Wednesday afternoon with major thunderstorm cells on either side of Carson Valley, but in the end it fizzled out. The squall that stalled over Myers generated some storm reports. One spotter reported .95 inches of rain near the junction of Highways 50 and 89 in South Lake. Another spotter reported dime to quarter size hail near Echo Summit. Otherwise it appears the storms managed to dodge the rain gauges again.

The forecast is calling for more of the same today, with thunderstorms building late in the morning and then moving northeast. The Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook. Expect strong winds, hail and heavy rain to accompany the thunderstorms.
