Gardnerville residents in the dark for nearly six hours

A power outage affected about 600 NV Energy customers in Gardnerville starting at about 6 p.m. when a tree limb broke and knocked down a power line near the intersection of Mill Street and Douglas Avenue.

According to NV Energy spokesman Karl Walquist, the tree was removed from the line and power was restored to Douglas, Hussman Avenue, Main, Church and Spruce streets at about 11:45 p.m.
