Women's business group opens branch in Carson Valley

A women's networking organization has opened a chapter in Carson Valley.

Women Entrepreneurs of the World is the parent corporation for local chapters spreading across the nation.

The group started in Carson City and has now opened chapters in Reno, Sparks, Lake Tahoe, Carson Valley and will soon be opening in Las Vegas.

Chapters meet once a month to allow women professionals to network, listen to educational business speakers and engage in peer-to-peer discussions of business challenges.

President and CEO Christy Virden said the group is experiencing rapid growth.

"Members are joining by the dozens due to the low yearly dues of only $70, the unique networking and referral generation programs, group discounts from national sponsors on products and services, and start-up business assistance programs from business plan creation to funding sources," she said.

"WE of the World believes that networking does not need to be expensive to be effective."

The Carson Valley chapter meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at the Carson Valley Inn from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m..

The CV chapter president is Dr. Susan Barry, who can be reached at sbarrydc@yahoo.com.
