Firefighters make progress against Pine Nuts, Boulder fires

The 200-acre Boulder fire is 60 percent contained as firefighters get the upper hand on the fire located five miles south of Wellington. Fire managers expect the blaze to have a line completely around the fire by 6 p.m. Monday. Four hand crews with substantial support from aircraft have kept the fire from spreading toward homes along Desert Creek Road in southern Lyon County.

The Pine Nuts fire burning nine miles east of Johnson Lane should have a line built around it. Four hand crews are also working on the 88-acre fire located on Mineral Peak.

No evacuations or injuries were reported from either fire during today's firefighting efforts.
