Minden lunch stop in Hot August poker run

More than 850 classic cars are expected in Minden Park for the Hot August Nights Poker Run about 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 6. The park is an official lunch stop during the 23rd annual Hot August Nights event.

The 110-mile seven-stop poker run begins at Baldini's in Reno, and continues through Carson City, Minden, over Kingsbury Grade to South Lake Tahoe and finishes at Legends at Sparks Marina.

Participants receive poker cards at each stop of the poker run. The best hand wins $3,000, $1,750 for second place and $1,000 for third place.

The event is co-sponsored by Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Authority and the Town of Minden.

The Valley Cruisers Car Club will assist with parking and poker card distribution. Barbecues provided by the Lions Club and Lira's Market. Barone & Reed Food Co. and Francisco's Mexican Restaurant offer lunch specials during the poker run. Music by Bill McClain's Mobile Music.
