Meals on Wheels to benefit from silent auction

Young at Heart senior citizens club hosts a silent auction as a fundraiser for Meals on Wheels. Silent auction items include a three-piece pine entertainment center with glass inserts made by Ducks Unlimited and a 48-inch HDTV 1080 series Mitsubishi television.

Bidding begins Monday and ends noon Aug. 10 at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane in Gardnerville.

Private bids are made in the senior center office. The highest bids will be updated daily. Call 783-6455 for updates.

The Meals on Wheels program delivers frozen meals, fruit, vegetables and milk to homebound Douglas County seniors. For some seniors, the program provides the only meal they receive each day. More than 29,000 meals are expected to be served to Douglas County's homebound seniors this year and more people join the program each week.
