Listen to your workers

EDITOR:

The question for the Douglas County School Board is: Why aren't you listening? You have an entire school district voicing their studied opinion that renewing the superintendent's contract for another year would not be in the best interest of the school district.

These are employees that work with, and for, the superintendent on a daily basis. When a large enough number of those employees bravely step forward to express their concerns then there must be legitimate concerns that are worth the board's time to investigate. It's imperative to investigate thoroughly those concerns in order to make an informed decision about the continuation of a person who has a vital role within the school district.

The board has limited contact with the superintendent so behaviors are tempered and well rehearsed.

The school board owes it to the staff, the students and the community to investigate employee concerns regarding the superintendent's leadership troubles. To choose not to is to fail to perform your duties as school board members.
