Couple held on $50,000 bail in assault

A former Indian Hills couple are being held on $50,000 cash only bail after they appeared in East Fork Justice Court on Wednesday morning on charges they sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl.

Julie Lynn Fry-Cruz, 34, said she went to Salt Lake City because her fiance took a job offer from her brother. She said her name is now Fry-Hobbes.

Justice of the Peace Jim EnEarl appointed attorney Derrick Lopez to represent her and ordered her to return to court on July 22.

Attorney Kris Brown was appointed to represent Fry-Cruz's boyfriend at the time of the incident, Donald J. Reynolds, 43.

The incident occurred in April or May in Reynolds' apartment.

Fry-Cruz told deputies that she and a 14-year-old girl were drinking when they started kissing, which led to the assault.

According to court documents, Fry-Cruz said that led to the assault.

The girl told deputies that the couple gave her three alcoholic drinks, and that when she lay down in their bed, Fry-Cruz began having sex with her while Reynolds watched. She told deputies she was not a willing participant.

Both Fry-Cruz and Reynolds had to be extradited from Salt Lake City.
