Searchers are on their way to Carson Pass for a 10 a.m. report of a hiker with an injured leg near Shower Lake.
The incident is located in El Dorado County near the Pacific Crest Trail in El Dorado County.
Alpine County Search and Rescue has been called out to assist in finding the hiker. The report came in by cell phone.
According to dispatchers, the hiker suffered either a broken or crushed leg.
There is a possibility that Highway 88 will be closed briefly to land a helicopter ambulance once the hiker's found.
