A South Lake Tahoe woman who tested positive for cocaine, marijuana and prescription drugs two days after her sentencing on possession charges was deferred returns to Judge Dave Gamble's courtroom this morning after a week in jail. Nokomis Murin admitted possession of a cocaine in exchange for the dismissal of charges of forgery, grand larceny and embezzlement. She was ordered to spend the time writing a letter to explain why Gamble should let her go to drug court.

Gardnerville Town Board members won't be hearing a big commercial project proposed for Peri Enterprises land at Pinenut Road and Highway 395 south of Gardnerville. The item was pulled from the agenda on Monday. Peri is seeking a master plan amendment, so the item will have to be back in August in order to be heard by the Douglas County Planning Commission then. Town Board members will discuss a request for an 80-foot high monopole telecommunications tower in Lampe Park and work on Eddy Street. Town Board members meet 4:30 p.m. in the town offices.

Genoa Town Board members are scheduled to discuss the future of the Candy Dance fundraiser at their regular meeting 7 p.m. tonight. They will also be discussing an agreement between the town and the Carson Valley Arts Council to do a Genoa Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival next year.
