Deputies confiscate fireworks

A Gardnerville Ranchos woman was cited Saturday for possession of fireworks.

Douglas County sheriff's deputies said they were on patrol, heard fireworks and saw red, smoldering ashes on the ground at a residence in the 1400 block of Kimmerling at 10 p.m.

When they questioned the woman she denied any knowledge, but deputies told her they saw the fireworks ignite.

She was cited for possession of fireworks which deputies confiscated.

Deputies are investigating the destruction of a playground slide at Saratoga Springs Park.

A member of the homeowners association reported July 2 that the slide had been shattered by a hammer.

He estimated it would cost $6,000 to replace the slide which was part of a custom-built $35,000 playset.

The man said two weeks ago, someone ripped out two pine trees from the park.

A resident of the 1400 block of Kimmerling reported July 1 that $300 worth of steak and chicken were stolen from a freezer.

She said the meat disappeared sometime after June 27.

The victim said she leaves her garage door unlocked and believed that was how the thief gained access to the freezer.
