That ain't no 8,000 feet: Snow dusts Valley

Snow levels unexpectedly dropped to the Valley floor for a brief time this morning, leaving a light dusting of snow in Genoa, Gardnerville and Minden.

A colder than expected storm left snow on in the mountains right down to the base.

Rain mixed with snow is falling in Gardnerville now.

Snow plows were seen heading to Lake Tahoe.

Douglas County deputies are helping a motorist on Highway 50 near Glenbrook with a flat tire caused by debris on the roadway. Otherwise the roads are clear.

The National Weather Service predicted that the snow levels would be above 8,000 feet today.
