Albert J. Cogozzo

A Mass is 11 a.m. Jan. 15, 2009, at St. Gall Catholic Church for longtime Gardnerville resident Albert J. Cogozzo, who died Jan. 6, 2009.

Born Aug. 30, 1915, in San Francisco, to Robert and Lucille Cogozzo, he was raised in the city and was honored for being the third person in San Francisco to volunteer for the U.S. Army when World War II began.

Mr. Cogozzo served with Gen. George Patton on his staff in Europe. He was an Internal Revenue Service agent for 35 years after he left the service.

Donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospice or the St. Gall Memorial Garden.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
