A funeral Mass for Thomas Patrick McGreal, 68, a Gardnerville resident for the past nine years, will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Gall Catholic Church.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at St. Gall. A wake service and recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7 p.m.
Mr. McGreal died Jan. 29, 2000, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born March 11, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, to John and Katie Coyne McGreal.
Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in the Monterey Peninsula in California.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He retired in 1968 and entered civil service as a produce manager at the commissary store, Fort Ord, Calif., and retired in 1989. He was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, Seaside, Calif., Fleet Reserve Association, Carson City, American Legion Post 591 and USS Chourre Reunion Group.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Eleanor Marie and nephew, Edward A.
Among his survivors are his wife Alice Ventura of Gardnerville; daughter Kathleen Buscay of Douglas County; sons Thomas M. of San Marino, Calif., Timothy P., of Pacific Grove, Calif., John B., of Oceanside, Calif., and Daniel J. of Mission Viejo, Calif.; sister Kay Shea of Lyndhurst, Ohio; brother Jack, of Concord Township, Ohio, and Ed of Avon Lake, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Eastside Memorial Park in Minden.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Gall Pastoral Community Center.
Walton's Douglas County Mortuary, Minden, is in charge of arrangements.
