The R-C Morning Report

The Valley is under a wind advisory through 4 p.m. today, expect winds of 20-30 mph with gusts of up to 50 mph by mid-morning. Wind prone areas west of Highway 395 should expect gusts of up to 65 mph. It's going to be shaky going for high-profile vehicles along Highway 395. Blowing dust won't make it any easier.

We're getting rain on the west side of the Valley, but it looks like it's breaking up over the mountains. There's a 30 percent chance of precipitation after 10 a.m., according to the National Weather Service forecast.

A dozen cars were damaged by flying debris from a possible dust devil in the parking lot of the Carson City DMV office at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a National Weather Service.

There's a high wind warning on Highway 395 through Washoe Valley. Trucks and other high-profile vehicles are prohibited. Chain or snow tires are required for Highway 50 at Lake Tahoe, Kingsbury Grade and over Spooner Summit. Chains or four-wheel drive are required on Highway 88 over Carson Pass, on Highway 50 over Echo Summit and on Interstate 80 over Donner Summit.
