DHS Ski Team film festival today

Douglas High School Ski Team presents the 2008 Tahoe Adventure Film Festival, "The Next Best Thing To Doin' It" by Todd Offenbacher, 6:30 p.m. today in the Douglas High School commons. Cost of $12 at the door benefits the DHS ski team.

Town hall meeting on cultural plan

A discussion on the state of arts in the community, 6-8:30 p.m. Monday, at the Douglas County Public Library, 1625 Library Lane, Minden. Relay for Life

Ash Wednesday

St. Gall Catholic Church celebrates the beginning of Lent with Ash Wednesday Mass at 7 a.m., 12:10 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and a Spanish Mass at 7 p.m. on Feb. 25.

Mass celebrated at 8 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. daily starting Feb. 26. Stations of the cross every Wednesday throughout Lent starting 6 p.m. March 4 followed with soup supper. The church is at 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Information, 782-2852.


Beast Feast Feb. 28

The Minden Rotary Club's Beast Feast is 6 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Carson Valley Inn. The menu includes Copper River salmon, braised bison ribs and eye of venison rack prepared by Carson Valley Inn chefs. Wines provided by Cleavage Creek and Drytown Cellars.

Silent auction items include a McMillan custom rifle, US Optics custom rifle scope, spa and beauty treatments, golf experiences, a ridealong with a Lake Tahoe sheriff and a CareFlight helicopter tour.

Space available for equine clinic

Vendors and donations are needed at the Douglas County Sheriff's Mounted Posse ninth annual spring equine clinic and tack, horse and trailer sale, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 14, at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Space available at $20 in advance, $30 day of sale. Tack and related equine items accepted as tax-deductible donations. Call 267-1607 for information.


GED classes
