Donation dollars matched

Big George Ventures has invested in Carson Valley and invites Carson Valley residents and businesses to help in the formation of a multifunctional arts venue. Big George Ventures will match every dollar donated by Carson Valley residents up to $25,000, with donations applied to offset the building note.

Gallery features artists monthly

Carson Valley artist Nancy Clarke shows a selection of her oil landscapes of the Sierra during February at the Copeland Cultural Arts Center, 1572 Highway 395 in Minden. Carson Valley Arts Council will feature work by a different artist each month. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Information at cvartscouncil.com or 782-8207.


Silk demonstration at art meeting

Louise Noel Howes gives a demonstration of painting on silk at the monthly meeting of the Carson Valley Art Association, 1:30 p.m. Feb. 27, at the UNR Cooperative Extension conference room, 1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville.

Howes has participated in silk painting workshops and has shown work in more than 150 art shows and galleries since 2003.

Guitarist next in concert series

The Carson Valley Arts Council concert series continues with jazz and blues guitarist Chris Cain on March 13 at the CVIC Hall, 1602 Esmeralda in Minden. A wine, beer and cheese reception sponsored by Tahoe Ridge Winery is at 6 p.m. Desserts by Bravo Cafe & Bakery served at 8:30 p.m. Admission is a $15 donation at the door. Information, 782-8207.
