One lane of Highway 395 open around accident

Traffic is taking turns using one lane on Highway 395 between Gardnerville and Ruhenstroth due to a fatal accident that occurred at 7:49 a.m. today.

One person was confirmed killed in the accident involving a pickup and a sport utility vehicle. The accident occurred near the administrative offices of the Washoe Tribe.

Nevada Department of Transportation and the Nevada Highway Patrol have instituted traffic controls while the accident is investigated and cleared. No time for reopening both lanes has been announced.

One person was taken for treatment by helicopter ambulance.
