Regarding Cynthia Trigg

EDITOR:

Due to the recent issues concerning the superintendent of the school district I felt that, as a member of the community, it was my responsibility to be informed on the current issues. This being my first time attending a school board meeting I need to express my sincere disappointment in the mannerisms of the Douglas County School Board President Cynthia Trigg.

Firstly, I was disappointed that Ms. Trigg started the meeting before all seven board members were present. Secondly, I was disappointed, as well as offended, in the behavior that Ms. Trigg presented. Ms. Trigg was rude in the way she asked for public opinion and while people were presenting to the board she was having side conversations with other members that were not related to issues on the agenda. At one point she was even having a side conversation about cough drops during the discussion of the interim superintendent.

I feel that, not only as a member of the board but as the president, Ms. Trigg should be held to a higher standard as far as her attitude toward the public is presented, as well as her respect toward the person addressing her and the rest of the board.

As a member of the community I felt compelled to express my disappointment of how the people we elect and put into positions of power present themselves and therefore the entire school board. I would hope in the future, Ms. Trigg would show more respect to the public in attendance, the people speaking, and to her fellow board members.
