Tahoe Rim Trail Association offering hikes

The Tahoe Rim Trail Association is sponsoring three free guided hikes in the month of September.

Sept. 4: Kingsbury to Spooner Summit

With intermittent views of Lake Tahoe, both going and coming, the big payoff is a view of the most of the lake at the approximate halfway point. This nearly level, open area of South Camp Peak is windswept and the view exhilarating. The hiker looks down upon Emerald Bay and scans landmark peaks around the lake.

Sept. 12: Galena Falls Loop

Enjoy a Hike towards Mt. Rose, stopping at a beautiful waterfall for snacks, and then continuing the loop back to the trailhead. Enjoy the end of summer with beautiful views and plenty of photo opportunities. Total of 6 miles. Please, only children over 10 years old and dogs need to stay home for this one.

Sept.14: Peak Bagging 101

Hike from Tahoe Meadows to Rose Knob Peak (9,710ft), on a not-so-terribly strenuous hike to the top of a very cool mountain with awesome views, and all of Lake Tahoe and Incline Village at your feet. Mostly on trail hiking with a fun 15 minute scramble to the final peak. Participants must be able to hike a minimum of 2 miles per hour. Bring lots of water, snacks and lunch. Dogs are allowed, if they can handle a talus scramble. 6 miles total out-and-back, moderately strenuous hike.

Pre-registration is required. For more information or to sign-up for these hikes call the TRTA office at (775) 298-0012 or email info@tahoerimtrail.org.
