Bailey Piper home for the prom

Douglas High senior Bailey Piper returned home on Monday night in preparation for Friday's prom.

The 18-year-old arrived from Houston where she has been undergoing treatment for osteosarcoma at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for the past nine months.

Family members and friends holding flowers and carrying banners that said "I love you, Bailey," gathered at Reno-Tahoe International Airport to greet Bailey and her father, Wes.

The tickets on Southwest Airlines for Bailey and dad were made possible through a gift from the Keaton Rafel Foundation so that Bailey could attend prom.

"This Friday Bailey, boyfriend CJ Uber and as many friends as they can cram into the Reno-Tahoe Party Limo will ride up to the Douglas High School Prom at Edgewood," said family friend Denise Uber.

Piper and her father will return to Houston on Saturday for one more treatment and then they will return to Gardnerville.

Piper, who has been taking classes online from the hospital, will attend Douglas High School for the first time during her senior year.
