The R-C Morning Report

The turnout for last night's Business Showcase exceeded 700 people, and it seemed pretty busy when I was there. The businesses did a great job of showing off, and in some cases, sharing their wares.

Today is Arbor Day, America's original Earth Day, and they'll be planting four trees in Gardnerville in its honor 10 a.m. on East Eddy Street. Gardnerville has officially been recognized by Tree City USA for the seventh year in a row.

It's raining out this morning and it looks like more on the way. The Weather Service upped the chance for rain to 70 percent for today and lowered the snow level to 5,700 feet. The snow level will never get down to the Valley floor this weekend, though it will come close in places. Saturday morning it's supposed to drop down to 4,700 feet.

There's a high wind warning through Washoe Valley, with campers and trailers prohibited and a little bit of yellow over the top of the Mount Rose Highway. Otherwise the roads are pretty clear. There's no accidents as of 6:09 p.m., but I'm sure that will change as the morning progresses.
