Sertoma's Chili Cookoff and Craft Fair at CVI this weekend

Sertoma's 17th annual Carson Valley Chili Cookoff & Craft Fair is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Carson Valley Inn between the gas station and casino.

The event features food, beverages, live music by Carl & the Classics, contests, raffles, 70 crafters, 50 competition cooks and free admission.

The regional competition includes former world champions from across the United States who compete in red chili, green chili and salsa events sanctioned by the International Chili Society. The winners from the Carson Valley Chili Cookoff earn entry to the World Championship Cookoff.

Food service includes steak, burgers, hot dogs and Sertoma's famous chile con carne. The beer wagon also serves wine. Soft drinks available.

There will be contests to select Miss Chili Pepper, Mr. Hot Sauce and the winner of the Shoot and Holler competition.

Parking available behind the Carson Valley Inn RV resort. Shuttle service from the parking area to the event and a handicap pickup location is available.

Money raised by the Carson Valley Sertoma Chili Cookoff benefits the Carson Valley Community Food Closet, Carson Valley Boys & Girls Club, China Spring, Aurora Pines and individuals with speech and hearing problems.
