Gardnerville residents Walter "Bud" and Doris Warren celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary March 7, 2009, with their family on a cruise ship.
During World War II, Bud served in the U. S. Navy from 1942-45 in the Pacific theater and Doris worked at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, Calif.
The Warrens have three children: Robert Warren of Oregon City, Ore., and Larry Warren and Marilyn Wanamaker of Gardnerville, and two grandsons: Douglas Warren of Buena Park, Calif., and Eric Wanamaker from Gardnerville, currently serving in the Navy.
