The arrival of the Gardnerville quads was a welcome development on Sunday. The Record-Courier is continuing to collect baby items for the quads, who were born in their 31st week. Items may be dropped off Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the newspaper office, located at 1503 Highway 395 in beautiful downtown G-ville.

Another deadline is looming on Wednesday, that of the community awards. We've got lots of nominations for unsung hero, so let's get some for the other categories, like service club of the year, manager/supervisor of the year, business of the year, employee of the year and tourism business of the year.

A South Lake Tahoe woman is scheduled to be sentenced today in a series of vacation home burglaries. Brooke Laugheed, 20, admitted she broke into a home on South Benjamin, spent the night, eating food and drinking the booze and left the next morning with the owners' television sets. She faces up to five years in prison.

The National Weather Service has issued a statement that wetter weather is on the way this weekend. A strong storm system is heading this way that should bring rain and snow to the mountaintops. The storm is expected to arrive Thursday and stick around for the Nevada Day Parade on Saturday. Today the weather will be mostly sunny and a balmy 75 degrees.
