Coleville High graduation

Friday, June 6, 6 p.m. at the Coleville High School gym, the class of 2008 will hold their graduation. The guest speaker this year is to be Gen. John Abizaid, a graduate of Coleville High School. It is always enjoyable to attend their graduations and to hear their achievements during their school careers, as well as their future plans. Hope to see you there.

Little Leaguers having fun

The Coleville Marlins' first year in the Carson Valley Little League has been both fun and pretty successful. They will make their first appearance today in a round-robin tournament to determine the league champions. We wish them a lot of fun and some nice wins.

Softball game

vs. sheriffs

This Saturday, noon, at the Coleville High School softball field, the Coleville Boosters are sponsoring a coed softball game between our ballplayers and the Mono County Sheriffs. The admission fee is $5, which includes a free lunch. Children under 10 years old will get in free. Please come out, enjoy the game and support the boosters' fundraising efforts.

This and that

n A reminder that the California Primary election is Tuesday, June 3. Be sure to vote and give your input on the issues and people on the ballot. We shouldn't do a lot of complaining later if we didn't vote.

n The Regional Planning Advisory Committee's monthly meeting will be Tuesday, June 5, 7 p.m. at the Walker Community Center. You are always invited to attend these meetings.

n Olga Gilbert has asked me to let everyone know that, after June 11, the Coleville library will only be open weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

n If you know of anyone needing crisis assistance for temporary housing, food, etc., be sure they know that they can call the Salvation Army at (877) 617-8243.

n I know the recent wet and cool weather made it challenging for yard sales and barbecues over the long weekend, but I hope they still worked out for everyone and that you enjoyed your holiday.
