Entertainment at Sharkey's

The Motifs play 8 p.m. to midnight tonight at Sharkey's, 1440 highway 395, Gardnerville.

The Motifs are brothers Al and Phil Velasquez who have entertained in Nevada for more than 25 years with hits from the '50s and '60s to current hit, from country to pop to salsa. The band is Al on vocals and drums and Phil on vocals and bass.

Dealer's Choice plays 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday.


Carson Valley Days at Buckaroos

Acoustic jam at Eddy Street Book Exchange

Local musicians are invited for an acoustic jam, 2:30 - 5 p.m. June 29 at the Eddy Street Book Exchange. Musicians of any acoustic instrument of any level of experience or those who don't play but want to sing along are welcome. Carson Valley Inn entertainment

Melissa Dru appears through Sunday and various duos entertain on Monday nights. Cabaret Lounge entertainment is presented with no cover and no minimum in 45-minute shows at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 p.m.

Melissa Dru and her band entertain with top 40, classic rock and pop music. Their style and stage presence appeal to a wide range of audiences. The quartet is Dru on vocals, rhythm guitar and percussion, Mick Hampson on vocals and guitar, Jim Haase on keyboards and vocals and Nathan Rodney on drums and vocals.

Kid 'n Nic take the Cabaret Lounge stage Tuesday and play until June 22. The Kid 'n Nic Show entertains with a jazz, blues, swing, Latin and pop musical review.

Music at Minden Farmer's Market

The Country Valley Jug Stompers play old-time country and blues and Japanese jug songs, 4-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Minden Farmers Market on Esmeralda Avenue.


Block party kickoff to Magiko

Minden Village at Highway 395 and Lucerne Street hosts their annual block party Thursday as a kick-off to Magiko, which runs through July 5.

The event will include magicians, stilt-walkers, jugglers and balloon twisters. There will be wine and brew tasting, a barbecue, boardwalk games, dunk tanks, free food and ice cream, live music and chances to win prizes.

Christian concerts June 20 and 21

Carson Valley House of Praise hosts their second annual Christian concert featuring Christian blues and rock guitarist Larry Carter at 6:30 p.m. June 20 and 21 at Minden Park.

Carter played lead guitar for the gospel group The McGruders from 1989-1993, but left the group to fulfill the call of God on his life.

Also included in the show is the returning act from Citrus Heights, Tyler Sullivan, and the Neimann Avenue band from Elk Grove. Everyone is welcome. Information, the Rev. George Whorley, 691-5649.

Movies in the Park begins June 27

The Town of Gardnerville's Movies in the Park opens with "The Goonies" at dusk June 27 in Heritage Park.

Movies continue with "E.T." on July 18, the Carson Valley Pops Orchestra entertaining with show tunes before the classic movie "Citizen Kane" on Aug. 15 and Disney's "Meet the Robinsons" on Sept. 5.
