Goodbye and good luck to class of 2008

Tonight more than 400 people join the ranks of those who've graduated from Douglas High School, forever linking them to Carson Valley.

High school students no more, they enter the ranks of those we officially consider adults.

And while there are still a few things they are not permitted at 18, they are eligible to vote and join the military.

They are now responsible for their actions in many ways they weren't before.

It's been quite a while since a graduating class has faced the challenges the class of 2008 faces.

Those going away to college are facing higher costs for classes, books and housing.

Those going into the workplace are facing higher costs for food and fuel when they are at their lowest earning potential.

With a nation at war, those heading into the military face the possibility of paying the highest price of all.

We congratulate Douglas High School's class of 2008 and offer our best wishes for their future.

We know that this latest generation of Tigers will take the world by the tail and make us proud.
