Indian Hills accountant hospitalized after alleged overdose

The Indian Hills General Improvement District's chief accountant was taken away by an ambulance on Wednesday morning after she allegedly overdosed on an anti-anxiety drug inside her office.

Nancy Fredrickson, who was serving as co-interim general manager of the district while a new manager was sought, was transported to Carson-Tahoe Medical treatment after co-workers found her in a lethargic state.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, co-workers said Fredrickson came into work and attended a staff meeting where there was a "screaming match."

Medics at the scene told a Douglas County Sheriff's deputy that Fredrickson was in and out of consciousness and that she'd said she wanted to kill herself.

On Wednesday night, members of the Indian Hills Improvement District relieved Fredrickson of her duty as co-managers, a position she was named to a month ago along with Sandi Eisele, who tendered her resignation shortly after the appointment.

District board officers took over management of the district until an interim general manager could be hired.

They are scheduled to discuss finding an interim manager 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Eisele's father-in-law, Bill, who serves as secretary-treasurer of the district board, urged trustees to hire an accountant to take over for Frederick.

" Nancy is out and we don't know when she'll be back" he said. "No one is in her position and there are still outstanding bills that have not been paid in three months."

Auditors from Douglas County Controller Claudette Springmeyer's office are scheduled to look at the district's books on Monday, Bill Eisele said.

Sandi Eisele and Fredrickson were named interim co-managers while trustees sought a new manager to replace Dennis Longhofer, whose contract was not renewed in March.
