Farley to speak at Democrats dinner

Cory Farley, columnist for the Reno Gazette-Journal for 29 years, will be the keynote speaker at the Douglas County Democratic Central Committee's annual Turn Nevada Blue dinner on Saturday, Jan. 12 at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden.

Known for speaking his mind on subjects as diverse as "the best ways to cook asparagus, how to drive in snow and why Nevada voters so consistently make the wrong choices," Farley became a liberal voice in Reno.

In addition to Farley, Nevada Democratic Party Chairwoman Jill Derby and Nevada State Archivist Guy Rocha, will speak. There will also be a tribute to Sallie Springmeyer, long-time resident of Douglas County, who passed away in December 2007 at the age of 104.

There will be a no-host bar starting at 5 p.m. with the dinner served at 6 p.m.

Reservations are required by Jan. 10. Cost is $75 per person.
