Booths needed for senior health fair

The Douglas County Senior Center's 10th annual Senior Health Fair is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 28 in the Shannon Ballroom of the Carson Valley Inn. Admission is free.

Informational booths include vision, hearing hospice, Alzheimer's care, fitness and nutrition, Douglas County services, home care, legal services, investment professionals, DART and TRIAD.

Booths are still available to area businesses and health care providers. For information, call the Douglas County Senior Center at 783-6455.


Student Day

Student-Senior Day is Saturday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Guest speaker Ralph Chizek discusses Jewish pictographs at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Museum tours led by costumed docents, 10 a.m. noon and 2 p.m. Free admission for seniors and students with accompanying adult. Chautauqua meets

An informational meeting for the Douglas County Historical Society Young Chautauqua program is 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Students from fourth through 12th grade are invited to choose an historical character to represent. Information, Grace Bower, 782-2555.


Conductor coffee

Sierra Philharmonic League presents a coffee to meet Sarah Hatsuko Hicks, one of five candidates for the position of conductor/music director of the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, 10 a.m. Jan. 8, at the Copeland Cultural Arts Center, 1572 Highway 395, Minden. Museum lecture

Park interpreter Mark Jensen discusses the Dangberg Home Ranch, 7 p.m. Jan. 8, at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville. The free lecture series is sponsored by the Douglas County Historical Society the second Thursday of the month. The museum and the Main Street Book Store will be open before and following the one-hour lecture. Information, 782-2555.


Photo club

Carson Valley Photo club meets 6:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Membership open to amateur and professional photographers. Guest speaker is Record-Courier photographer Shannon Litz. Information, Pat Stanley, (775) 790-0440.


Helpers wanted

The Douglas County Public Library is looking for volunteers to assist with shelving of library books and other library materials. Training will be provided and flexible schedules accommodated.
