Tickets on sale for Women's Fair, cooking school

The Record-Courier, Nevada Appeal and Glow magazine are planning the Carson area's first Women's Fair Sept. 19-20 at the Carson City Community Center in conjunction with the nationally acclaimed Taste of Home Cooking School.

The Women's Fair will include more than 40 local vendors, a fashion show, live demonstrations by make-up artists, massage therapists, health and wellness experts, wine tasting and drawings for prizes.

The Taste of Home Cooking School will present two live cooking demonstrations Sept. 19-20 with creative ideas for fall dining and entertaining.

Emcees for the event are Bill and Connie from the Alice 96.5 morning show.

Start with a variety of local vendor exhibits, blend in 10 quick and delicious recipes, add a good measure of special door prizes awarded to a number of lucky winners and top that off with a gift bag for every attendee, said cooking school owner Kristi Larson.

"We have a program chock full of fun, food facts and quick-to-fix recipe ideas for you to try at home," she said. "It's a culinary extravaganza. Imagine, Lava Chocolate Cakes, warm and gooey from the oven, baked as individual little cakes, served with whipped cream."

Tickets for the Taste of Home Cooking School are expected to go fast, Larson said.

They are available for $10 at Save Mart stores in Carson City, the Nevada Appeal and The Record-Courier.

Tickets for the Women's Fair will be $5 at the door.

Taste of Home Wining Recipes cookbooks will be available for purchase at the event, or may be purchased in advance for $29.95 by calling the Nevada Appeal, 882-2111, or The Record-Courier, 782-5121.
