Cool morning greets Candy Dance

What can only be described as a winter storm brought a trace of snow to Genoa and left 4 inches on the top of the Sierra. Snowflakes fell in town right at midnight and melted off pretty quickly. The temperature at sunrise is just a tad below freezing. Jacks Valley Road, Genoa Lane and Foothill Road closed in Genoa for Candy Dance at 7 a.m. It's cloudy on the west side of Carson Valley, but it is forecast to clear. There's fog in the center of the Valley so motorists should take care on Highway 395. The only road controls in Western Nevada are over Mount Rose Highway, and that's the long way to get to Nevada's first permanent settlement.
